Yevtushenko's splendid long poem abou the fall of Allende's socialist government in Chile. On my first visit to the USSR in 1982 he invited me to his dacha in Peredelkino, the wrotrs' colony, and took me to see Pasternak's grave. While we got on well, we lost contact after, to my regret.
