The Shaft

I grew up in a 'dead' mining village. Carnkie was surrounded by long-defunct mines. My forefathers were miners or carpenters in the mines. I still feel that I'm a 'grass captain' --one who works on the surface, luckily. But I'm very conscious of my history, and this long poem explores it.
